Introduction
LaTeX is useful as a means of displaying mathematical symbols on webpages, at least until MathML is more widely supported. It is a typesetting language that I find useful to have on all computers. It is not strictly necessary as part of a server set up, but does include some packages that may come in useful later, or will have to be installed separately. At any rate, all the information necessary for installing and setting up LaTeX can be found here.
